Escravos de jo – Brazil

Escravos de jo S-America Brazil. Playing with things. Props: fruits, stones N.o.p.: 5
A group of children sit in a circle on the ground. At the time they all produce a text aloud they move a small object with their hands. The movements (eye-hand coordination) aren’t easy and you’re out if you fail doing it correctly. At the end two players are left and they raise the speed of the text, which has to be followed accordingly by the moves with their hands.

2 Capoeira – Brazil

Capoeira S-America Brazil Exerting game No props N.o.p.: 10 +
Capoeira here worked out at a school without music instruments is merely a dance and balanced moves. You should not touch the other when you are in the circle and any body can jump in at any time. It is spectacular how children do perform while the others sing songs to accompany the two children inside the circle.

Barra manteiga – Brazil

Barra manteiga S-America Brazil Running around game No props N.o.p.: 6 +
Two groups of boys and girls in line stand opposite each other. A child of one party (the chaser) walks with her hands stretched forward in the direction of the other party: there stand the other children also with their open hands stretched forward, to wait to be tagged by the chaser. The trick as being the chaser is to tag the hands of a child of the opposite party and at the same moment quickly turn round and run back to the starting position of your own party, without being tagged by the child he just tagged. If the chaser succeeds, then someone of his own party will be the next chaser; if he fails and he is caught before reaching his own party, then he has to stand aside at the back of the opposite party. The game ends if one party is completely caught by the other party.

Capoeira – Brazil

Capoeira S-America Brazil Singing and dancing game Props: music instruments N.o.p.: 10> Boys and girls are standing in a circle and sing some songs, usually accompanied by some instruments. Here the kids only sing and clap while two children are moving and jumping around inside the circle and are mostly not allowed to touch each other. It all goes with fluent moves and sometimes another jumps in the circle and make a big athletic show.

Babalu – Brazil

Babalu SAmerica Brazil Clapping game No props N.o.p.: 2
Two girls are clapping, singing and making moves on the rythm of their clapping hands. It looks easy but surely it is not. Try to do it yourself!
